I’m a gender studies researcher and PhD Candidate at RMIT University. I spend a lot of time thinking about how gender shapes the ways we work, use technology and experience everyday life.

My PhD research takes me into China’s rural livestreaming industry. I’m looking at the women whose work happens behind and around the livestream. Their labour may not always appear on screen, but it helps keep platforms, households and rural livelihoods going.

I describe this as invisible infrastructural labour. I’m interested in how this work becomes gendered, how it is organised through platforms and why so much of it remains unseen.

My work does not stay only within academic spaces. I also take part in community and social practice projects. These experiences remind me that research is not only about producing knowledge. It is also about listening carefully, working with others and staying close to the lives and concerns that make research matter.

Outside my PhD, I’m interested in sociology, labour studies, platform studies, LGBTQ+ cultures, film and media. I enjoy following the connections between research, ordinary life and the stories we tell about the world around us.
